  1. 01The Dregs

A child survives by ordinary theft.

Kairo’s character, instincts, and material need exist before supernatural advantage enters his life.

  2. 02The change

    Touch gains a second meaning.

The theft System opens a reach far beyond coin and creates the moral engine that will follow him.

  3. 03–49The wilderness

Four years turn improvisation into method.

Hunts, injuries, thresholds, resources, and repeated danger shape a capable survivor.

  4. 50The capital

    Civilization becomes the next wilderness.

A fortified main capital brings books, trade, institutions, crowds, and forms of power far more complicated than anything stalked through trees.

Chapter 50 · The capital threshold

A city is opportunity measured in consequences.

For a thief whose gift improves through contact, civilization places thousands of possible targets within reach. It also places law, reputation, wealth, hierarchy, witnesses, and retaliation around every choice.

The capital is not the ending of the story. It is the point where private survival meets public power.
