The Astralith archive · Watcher’s station

A place from which universes can be seen.

The Astralith does not reveal a single galaxy or one cluster of worlds. Its reach opens upon entire universes, each with histories and lives too numerous for any Watcher to reduce to a map.

Known function

The Astralith is a station of witness before it is a throne.

From the Astralith, Yoldus can observe worlds and universes, study their conditions, and choose whether a need is grave enough to justify intervention. Its purpose is not to make every life legible or every society subject to his rule.

Any portal opened into the Astralith can be closed. Access therefore remains permission, not conquest. Even those Yoldus welcomes cannot turn the station into an unguarded road between universes.

Inherited record

Other Watchers came before him.

Yoldus studies scriptures and records left by other Watchers. Their existence proves the office has history; it does not yet reveal who created the Astralith, why Watchers are chosen, or whether every Watcher understood the duty in the same way.

Scripture

Words from earlier hands

Prior Watchers left teachings, warnings, observations, and possible contradictions for those who followed.

Origin

The maker remains unknown

The Astralith’s creator has not been established, and the archive does not assign the work to a convenient god.

Succession

The office is older than Yoldus

He is a Watcher, not the first cause of watching, and must decide what inheritance deserves obedience.

Sealed architecture

The place is still being built in canon.

Its complete chambers, boundaries, means of revelation, relation to time, and deepest structure remain under development. Function is established; decorative certainty is not.
