Vastus Wars archive · First Flare story
The war begins with a broken road.
One damaged relay grows into a struggle over the civilization-spanning Lightline network—and the responsibility of deciding what that network should become.
Name and event
The story bears creation’s name, but its war unfolds in the ages after.
The First Flare is the universe’s creation event. Vastus Wars: First Flare carries that ancient name because the campaign turns on what civilization chooses to preserve, sever, burden, and begin again.
The conflict does not start with a throne room or a prophecy. It starts with infrastructure failing where lives depend on it—and with the discovery that repair is never politically neutral.
Warfront · Vastus Wars: First Flare
Seven movements from fracture to responsibility.
Each act widens the scale without abandoning the original question: who should control the roads that hold civilizations together?
- Prologue
The Broken Lightline
At Duskward Relay, one expedition ship reaches an Auric route that is already failing. A damaged road becomes the first crisis of a much larger war.
- Act I
The Dying Relay
The relay must be repaired, claimed, studied, cut loose, or abandoned. Every choice saves something and puts something else at risk.
- Act II
Oaths of Seven Powers
No faction can solve the crisis alone. Alliances become necessary, but no one power can be trusted with complete control of the future.
- Act III
War of the Lightlines
Auric Rail failures spread. Routes, junctions, supply chains, and whole star systems become battlefields because movement itself is now at stake.
- Act IV
Sleeping Vastness
Great Beasts and older forces awaken or move into the conflict. The factions learn that not every power in the Vastus cares about their borders or their war.
- Act V
Burden of Dominion
Winning territory is only the beginning. Whoever holds it must feed people, protect routes, enforce law, carry refugees, and answer for the cost of rule.
- Finale
First Flare
The final struggle turns on the inheritance of the ancient First Flare. The name points back to creation itself; it does not move the First Flare from the beginning of history.
