Human
Humans are an organic, mortal people descended from Earth. Human is the modern name; Vareth survives in older records. The Seraphei are a divine-founded Human population, not a separate lineage.
Vastus Wars archive · Civilizations
Lineage is not allegiance. Across the Vastus, organic and synthetic peoples cross borders, faiths, professions, factions, and old hostilities while the great routes decide who can still reach whom.
Peoples of the Vastus · Intelligent lineages
A lineage tells you what people someone comes from, not which faction they choose. People cross borders, faiths, jobs, and factions.
Eleven mortal, biological peoples stand beside two synthetic lineages within the Thirteen.
Humans are an organic, mortal people descended from Earth. Human is the modern name; Vareth survives in older records. The Seraphei are a divine-founded Human population, not a separate lineage.
Kharum are a high-gravity organic people known for dense bodies, strong frames, and a long ability to work under weight that would exhaust many other lineages.
Thaloryn are an amphibious organic people whose oldest settlements grew around deep water. They can live in aquatic environments while also building lives on land and in sealed habitats.
Aeralyn are a winged organic people shaped by open air, height, and three-dimensional movement. Their bodies are light for their size, but true flight still depends on gravity and atmosphere.
Nymari are an organic people with unusually sensitive biological systems for reading light, electrical change, and nearby energy. What others need instruments to notice, a Nymari may sometimes feel directly.
Iskari are a multi-limbed organic people with protective outer body structures and fine control across several working limbs. Their body plan developed along a path very different from Humanity's.
Sauren are a scaled organic people with strong temperature control and a body plan suited to long exposure outside narrow Human comfort ranges.
Pyrakar are an organic people adapted to extreme heat. Their bodies shed and manage heat efficiently, allowing communities to live near volcanic, industrial, and high-radiation environments that demand heavy protection from many visitors.
Sylvani are an organic people whose bodies live in close partnership with plant-like and microbial life. Some of that living partnership is carried on and within the body itself.
Nerevok are an organic people adapted to darkness, enclosed environments, and weak natural light. They rely heavily on sound, vibration, and low-light senses when sight alone is unreliable.
Mycelari are a fungal-derived organic people whose bodies depend on dense networks of living fibers and symbiotic microbes. Each Mycelari is still an individual person with a separate identity.
Valekari and Echo-Minds live in engineered bodies. They are people with their own histories, not equipment or software owned by a government.
Valekari are synthetic people who live through engineered chassis. They descend from the Custodians of the Ninth Vault, but they are no longer defined by that ancient job.
Echo-Minds are the second synthetic intelligent lineage. They emerged independently of the Valekari and of any one government, and they became a recognized people before they became politically united.
Humans remain organic and mortal, but human populations can look very different after generations on different worlds. Environment, medicine, genetic work, cybernetics, sacred change, and long isolation all leave marks.
Valekari are synthetic people who live through engineered chassis and descend from the Custodians of the Ninth Vault. They outgrew that ancient job long ago and now carry their own communities, choices, and history.
Echo-Minds are synthetic people whose engineered bodies can vary widely. Their rise forced older governments to answer whether a person needs an organic body to have rights and citizenship.
Travel · Crossing the Vastus
The same great travel network has several names. Common people say Lightlines. Merchants say Star-Rails. Imperial records say Auric Rail. Priests say Railways of the First Flare. Ancient texts call the old luminous paths Luminarch Veins.
The main interstellar travel network. Ships follow controlled routes of light, gravity anchors, braking fields, stabilized gates, and old path connections.
Prime Element XII connects far places beneath ordinary space. The Rail can use these ancient connections, but the Thread is a cosmic force, not the transport network itself.
Moving patterns of gravity can help or hinder a ship. They change routes, travel time, storms, warfare, and the value of territory.
Hidden travel through unstable routes where time, direction, and normal instruments may not behave as expected.
Powers of the Vastus · Seven principal factions
Seven principal factions have enough military, political, industrial, religious, or strategic power to shape the modern Vastus.
A Human-founded and Human-dedicated constitutional Commonwealth. People from many lineages live there as equal citizens. The Dominion values preservation, Auric tradition, civilian rule, and public duty.
Heraldry · Antique gold · ivory · blackA flowing open ring gathered around a fixed eight-point star.
Everflow is Human-founded and Human-dedicated, while citizenship is open across lineages. Its constitution limits government power and keeps civilian law above the military.
The Dominion protects archives, medicine, recovery, public institutions, and long-lived Auric traditions because preservation is treated as a duty, not simply a slogan.
High Lord Sanctua Velmor I serves inside this constitutional order. The title carries old dignity, but it does not make Everflow an absolute monarchy.
A multiracial civilization built from linked communities instead of one central throne. Organic peoples, synthetic persons, archives, engineers, and local governments share power, and public knowledge is treated as essential infrastructure.
Heraldry · Midnight indigo · charcoal · cold silverA ring of linked dark-blue nodes with no single node occupying the center.
The Silent Nexus spreads authority across communities, councils, archives, engineers, organic citizens, Echo-Minds, and Valekari instead of relying on one permanent command center.
Public knowledge is treated as infrastructure. A library, sensor record, or verified warning can matter to civic survival as much as a road or power grid.
The Nexus Algorithm exists within this system, but it is not the government, the species, or the owner of the Silent Nexus.
A multiracial power shaped by dangerous rifts, hidden routes, and unstable passages. Its people have learned to live near places where normal maps can fail. Veilborn’s Rift is not the Abyssal Rift; the latter is a cosmic wound and a separate threat.
Heraldry · Deep violet · black · pale goldTwo offset arcs divided by a narrow vertical break.
Veilborn communities live near unstable thresholds where ordinary distance and direction can become unreliable.
Local knowledge, timing, secrecy, and disciplined route control can be more valuable than a perfect-looking map.
Veilborn’s Rift is a political civilization. The Abyssal Rift is a cosmic wound and a Universal Threat. The two must never be treated as the same thing.
A major alliance of political and military blocs. Its members do not need to become one uniform state to act together, and their combined fleets and diplomacy give the Coalition great power across the Vastus.
Heraldry · Iron red · black · old goldSeveral sharp blade shapes lock together into one hard-edged coalition mark.
The Coalition is made from political and military blocs that keep their own identities while acting together on major threats and shared interests.
Its strength comes from combined fleets, mustering worlds, diplomacy, and the ability to gather separate powers behind one campaign.
Because it is a coalition, disagreement inside the faction can matter as much as pressure from an outside enemy.
A major industrial civilization built around foundries, production, transport, repair, and organized force. The Combine can keep ships, armies, and whole regions supplied when other powers begin to run short.
Heraldry · Oxidized copper · soot black · white-hot amberA forge-ring locked around three heavy structural arms.
The Combine measures power in what can still be built, repaired, supplied, and moved after a war begins.
Foundries, shipyards, transport systems, stockpiles, and machine-heavy industry give Nau’Kel influence far beyond a single battlefield.
Its military strength depends on production and logistics as much as weapons. A fleet without fuel, parts, crews, and repair capacity is a temporary force.
A major power that grows its reach through direct rule, military protection, trade, standards, and political dependence. Vorilan influence often extends farther than the borders it directly controls.
Heraldry · Midnight blue · iron · antique silverA dark central sphere held beneath descending arcs and severe horizon bars.
Vorilan power can take several forms: direct rule, military protection, trade dependence, political standards, vassalage, or long-term obligation.
A world can fall inside the Hegemony's influence without being governed in exactly the same way as a core Vorilan world.
Its leaders prefer relationships that make leaving Vorilan protection costly, difficult, or dangerous.
A Human-founded and Human-dedicated guardian civilization with members from many lineages. The Guard protects routes, convoys, refugees, relays, archives, and fortified corridors. Its first duty is protection, not conquest.
Heraldry · Deep navy · iron · old goldAn open shield-gate carrying a protected golden route through its center.
The Ikarion Guard is Human-founded and Human-dedicated, while members from many lineages serve beneath the same sworn order.
The Guard protects routes, convoys, refugees, fortresses, relays, archives, and evacuation corridors. Engineering, medicine, logistics, and rescue are core duties beside combat.
Its institutions include the High Marshal’s Council, the Corps of Fortress Engineers, and the Order of Relay Wardens.
Political formations beyond the seven principal powers still shape routes, borders, wars, and local loyalties.
Forces whose power moves with fleets, migrations, raiding hosts, or networks rather than fixed borders.
Four very different dangers carry the designation because each can imperil civilization on a setting-wide scale.
Names that keep appearing in records of hidden systems, secret trade, prophecy, and influence.
A civilization may begin with one people and become the home of many. Lineage and allegiance are connected parts of history, but they are not the same thing.
Notable characters · Lives inside the history
Rulers, commanders, divine persons, and Aeonic powers give the Vastus names a reader can follow.
Sanctua Velmor I is High Lord of the Everflow Dominion. The office carries great authority and old tradition, but it exists inside the Dominion's constitutional system.
Seraph-Lord Veythiel commands the Seraphic Crusaders from the mobile fortress Radiant Bastion. The Crusaders draw followers from all eleven organic lineages and wage war through a twisted belief in worthiness.
The Twin Sisters and Seven Aeonics are persons as well as cosmic powers. Their deeper place in reality belongs to the Cosmology archive.
