The Auric Rail is the great long-distance travel network of the known Vastus. Ships use routes of light, gravity anchors, braking fields, stabilized gates, and ancient path connections to cross interstellar distance.
Different people use different names for the same travel tradition: commoners say Lightlines, merchants say Star-Rails, imperials say Auric Rail, and priests say Railways of the First Flare.
Ancient texts use the name Luminarch Veins for the old luminous paths beneath parts of the network.
