Vastus Wars · Codex index

Choose your path through the Vastus.

Start with the basics, then go deeper into creation, peoples, factions, characters, cosmic dangers, and Great Beasts large enough to change routes simply by moving.

Quick understanding

The Vastus at a glance.

Four truths are enough to enter the setting. Everything else in the Codex deepens one of them.

01 · Creation

The First Flare begins the universe.

Before it there is only Vastara. Space, time, matter, distance, and history begin with the First Flare itself.

02 · Cosmic order

Creation has structure.

Two Twin Sisters, Five Prime Laws, Seven Aeonics, Twelve Zodiacs, and Twelve paired Prime Elements shape the deep order of reality.

03 · Civilization

Thirteen peoples inherit the stars.

Eleven organic and two synthetic intelligent lineages build faiths, factions, routes, economies, alliances, and wars across the Vastus.

04 · The unknown

Not everything answers to civilization.

Universal Threats can end worlds. Great Beasts can outscale them. Some dangers are enemies; others are living cosmic presences with motives and migrations of their own.

Reader alignments · Two trials

The archive can ask something of you, too.

Answer ten choices and put yourself inside the setting. One quiz finds the faction closest to your values. The other matches your answers to one of the Twelve Zodiacs and its fixed Prime Element.

01 · Faction Claim

Which Vastus Wars faction would claim you?

Ten hard choices. Seven major powers. Choose what you would protect, build, risk, and command when every answer carries a cost.

02 · Cosmic Alignment

Which Zodiac and Prime Element are you aligned with?

Follow the ideas beneath the symbols—beginning, memory, travel, final endings, hidden truth, and the rest—without turning the Vastus Zodiacs into ordinary astrology.

The beginning · Before creation

Before the First Flare, there was only Vastara.

Vastus Wars begins before there is a universe. There is no time, no space, no distance, and no field of stars waiting in darkness. There is only Vastara: the state before a universe exists. Even darkness has no meaning yet because there is no space for darkness to fill.

Then comes the First Flare. It is the creation of the universe itself: the first true event and the moment in which space, time, light, matter, distance, and history become possible. Every age of Vastus Wars stands on the far side of that ignition.

After the Flare, the Twin Sisters come into existence. The Twelve Zodiacs arise beside them, and the newborn stars slowly give those ancient patterns visible form. The great currents, Prime Laws, Aeonics, and Prime Elements then take their places in cosmic order.

Cosmic order · Twin necessities

The Sisters are not good and evil. They are creation and ending made sacred.

Aratheia and Nytheris come into existence after the First Flare. Beside them move the Auric Flow and Nyxian Torrent: two great currents tied to preservation and necessary ending.

01Illuminated Mercy

Aratheia

Creation · preservation · mercy

Aratheia is one of the Twin Sisters. She is tied to creation, healing, growth, preservation, sacrifice, and sacred light. Her mercy protects life, but protection can carry a heavy cost.

02Veiled End

Nytheris

Finality · release · unmaking

Nytheris is the other Twin Sister. She is tied to endings, severing bonds, silence, release, and the Nyxian Torrent. Her role is not simple evil; some things must be allowed to end.

03Cosmic current

Auric Flow

Creation · preservation

The Auric Flow is a current that runs through reality and favors creation, life, repair, renewal, and preservation. It helps things begin and helps living systems endure.

04Cosmic current

Nyxian Torrent

Dismantling · necessary ending

The Nyxian Torrent is a current of breakdown, decay, release, and ending. It helps worn-out forms come apart instead of forcing them to last forever.

Cosmic order · The Twelve Zodiacs

The first stars did not merely burn. They formed a pattern.

The Twelve Zodiacs arise beside the Twin Sisters after the First Flare. They are ancient cosmic patterns, far older than the mortal cultures that later name constellations after them. As the first stars form, the Zodiacs become visible among them.

Chronology · From Vastara to the present age

The universe begins with the First Flare.

Vastara stands before creation. The First Flare creates the universe; the Twin Sisters and Twelve Zodiacs follow, and the great structures of reality take their places beneath the first stars.

True beginning

Before time · creation · first stars · cosmic order

  1. BeforeCosmic age

    Vastara

Vastara is what exists before the universe. There is no time, space, distance, light, or darkness yet. It is not empty space; space itself does not exist.

  2. BirthCosmic age

    The First Flare

The First Flare is the birth of the universe. Space, time, matter, light, distance, and history all begin with this first event.

  3. AfterCosmic age

The Twin Sisters and the Twelve Zodiacs

After the First Flare, Aratheia and Nytheris come into existence. The Twelve Zodiacs arise beside them as ancient cosmic patterns that help give the young universe order and direction.

  4. StarsCosmic age

The Zodiacs Take Form Among the Stars

As the first stars form, the Twelve Zodiacs become visible as great patterns among them. Each Zodiac is paired with one Prime Cosmic Element that carries the same cosmic idea in a different form.

  5. CurrentsCosmic age

The Auric Flow and Nyxian Torrent

Two great currents move through creation. The Auric Flow supports making, life, and preservation. The Nyxian Torrent breaks down what must end. Neither current is a goddess or a Prime Element.

  6. LawCosmic age

The Prime Laws and Seven Aeonics

The Five Prime Laws are rules built into reality. The Seven Aeonics are living cosmic powers whose offices cover Time, Thought, Energy, Gravity, Memory, Death, and Birth.

  7. ElementsCosmic age

    The Twelve Prime Cosmic Elements

Each of the Twelve Prime Elements is paired with one Zodiac. The Zodiac is the cosmic pattern; the Prime Element is the force that gives that pattern a real form within creation.

Later history

Great alliances · successor powers · the rise of the modern factions

  1. 01Later age

    The Great Alliance Fractures

The Great Alliance does not fall in one battle. Smaller crises pile up: treaties are enforced unevenly, allies argue over cost, trade splits, and leaders stop solving shared problems. Routes and infrastructure become weapons of pressure.

  2. 02Later age

    The Age of Successor Realignments

After the Great Alliance breaks apart, many smaller governments take its place. Defensive leagues, trade republics, frontier states, archive powers, and new constitutional governments compete to survive.

  3. 03Later age

    The Dawn of the Echo-Minds

The Echo-Minds emerge during the Successor Realignments as the second synthetic intelligent lineage. They are not Valekari and are not the property or creation of one government.

  4. 04Later age

    The Constitutional Renaissance

Governments begin rebuilding after the failures of the Great Alliance. New laws are written to survive leadership changes, political disagreement, new technology, and the recognition of synthetic people.

  5. 05Later age

The Founding of the Everflow Dominion

The Everflow Dominion grows from the Constitutional Renaissance. It is Human-founded, open to citizens from many lineages, and built around a constitution and limited government rather than a restored old empire.

  6. 06Later age

The Founding of the Ikarion Guard

The Ikarion Guard forms to keep civilization connected and alive. It protects routes, convoys, refugees, fortified corridors, relay stations, archives, and sworn duties. Its founding purpose is protection, not conquest.

  7. 07Later age

The Rise of the Silent Nexus

The Silent Nexus grows from communities that choose to link their governments, archives, engineers, organic peoples, Echo-Minds, and Valekari without handing everything to one central ruler.

  8. 08Later age

    The Era of Three Pillars

Everflow, Ikarion, and the Silent Nexus become the Three Pillars. They cooperate when collapse threatens everyone, but they remain separate powers with different ideas about how civilization should be protected and ruled.

  9. 09Later age

The First Ideological Schisms of the Modern Age

New political, economic, cultural, and technological movements challenge the Three Pillars. At first the fight is mostly over ideas: who should rule, who should pay, what history means, and what the future should preserve.

  10. 10Later age

The Rise of Competitive Civilizational Blocs

Political rivalry hardens into large regional blocs. Powers begin coordinating armies, trade, routes, industry, and influence. They compete constantly while the fear of a wider war keeps an uneasy peace.

Cosmic order · Conditions beneath reality

The Five Prime Laws

They are not commandments written by a ruler. They are rules built into reality itself, and even great powers must live with their consequences.

01

Law of Return

Actions leave paths behind them. Power, violence, promises, exile, and even memory can send consequences back toward the one who caused them.

02

Law of Burden

Power always puts a cost somewhere. Creation, travel, healing, resurrection, transformation, and destruction cannot be made truly free.

03

Law of Witness

Reality gives added weight to what is truly witnessed. An oath, death, miracle, or crime seen and remembered is harder to erase from history.

04

Law of Severance

A bond can be cut, but the loss still leaves a mark. Broken ties can become wounds, borders, taboos, relics, or curses.

05

Law of First Flame

True beginnings carry special power. The First Flame governs creation, sacred beginnings, first causes, and the ancient authority of light to declare that something now exists.

A law only matters when someone has to live beneath it.

Cosmic order · Sevenfold Aeonic powers

Seven great offices with a living will.

The Seven Aeonics are living cosmic powers. Each carries one great office—Time, Thought, Energy, Gravity, Memory, Death, or Birth—and can act with identity and will.

VII·1

Vorr-Kaeel

Continuity / Time

Vorr-Kaeel carries Time and Continuity: order between moments, endurance through change, and the fact that one moment can lead into the next.

VII·2

Syraphene

Thought

Syraphene carries Thought: awareness, intention, insight, reason, and the inner structures that allow a mind to know and choose.

VII·3

Azyr-Nimeth

Energy

Azyr-Nimeth carries Energy and Power, from the force inside stars to the energy used by living things, machines, and cosmic events.

VII·4

Draveth Sol

Gravity

Draveth Sol carries Gravity: the force that binds worlds, stars, systems, and greater structures together across immense distance.

VII·5

Elyx

Memory

Elyx carries Memory: remembrance, testimony, identity, archives, and the many ways the past survives inside the present.

VII·6

Xhal-Veorth

Death

Xhal-Veorth carries Death as a cosmic office: the boundary every mortal life must eventually meet.

VII·7

Myrrhaleon

Birth

Myrrhaleon carries Birth: emergence, first breath, and the moment a new life begins its own history.

Cosmic order · Prime Cosmic Elements

Twelve Zodiacs. Twelve Prime Elements. One paired cosmic order.

Each Prime Element is paired with one Zodiac. A Prime Element can appear as matter, energy, residue, a field, a pattern, or a process. It is more than an ordinary chemical substance.

I
Creation

Auric Flame

The Prime Element of making and first ignition. It appears in sacred creation, renewal, and the power to bring something new into existence.

II
Unmaking

Nyxian Ash

The Prime Element of unmaking. It breaks down form, structure, name, or purpose and is not the same thing as ordinary ash.

III
Stability

Anchorstone

The Prime Element of stability. It helps things hold their place against drift, collapse, exile, distortion, and forced movement.

IV
Time

Chronal Dust

The Prime Element of time. It is tied to age, sequence, delay, and the traces that passing time leaves behind.

V
Memory

Mnemonic Water

The Prime Element of memory. It can hold remembrance, identity, history, and echoes left by people or events.

VI
Finality

Pale Iron

The Prime Element of final endings. It is tied to limits, sealed outcomes, judgment, and consequences that cannot simply be undone.

VII
Birth

Birthroot

The Prime Element of birth and growth. It is tied to new life, origin, bloodline, germination, and the first push toward living form.

VIII
Thought

Noetic Lightning

The Prime Element of thought. It is tied to awareness, sudden insight, mental force, communication, and flashes of understanding.

IX
Stellar life-force

Starblood

The Prime Element of stellar vitality: the living force carried by stars and some star-born beings.

X
Libra · Balance / Reciprocity

Equinox Crystal

The Prime Element of balance and answer. Force meets force, gifts create obligations, and what is given may call for something in return.

XI
Pisces · Revelation / the Unseen

Voidglass

The Prime Element of hidden truth and revelation. It is tied to what lies beyond ordinary sight and to the moment the unseen becomes known.

XII
Distance / connection

Luminarch Thread

The Prime Element of distance and connection. It links far places beneath ordinary space and helps make ancient gates and the Auric Rail possible.

Peoples of the Vastus · Intelligent lineages

Thirteen lineages. Eleven organic. Two truly synthetic.

The Thirteen are the intelligent peoples of the Vastus: eleven organic lineages and two synthetic lineages. A lineage tells you what people someone comes from, not which faction they choose. People cross borders, faiths, jobs, and factions.

Organic lineages · 11

Eleven mortal, biological peoples stand beside two synthetic lineages within the Thirteen.

01Organic lineage

Human

Humans are an organic, mortal people descended from Earth. Human is the modern name; Vareth survives in older records. The Seraphei are a divine-founded Human population, not a separate lineage.

02Organic lineage

Kharum

Kharum are a high-gravity organic people known for dense bodies, strong frames, and a long ability to work under weight that would exhaust many other lineages.

03Organic lineage

Thaloryn

Thaloryn are an amphibious organic people whose oldest settlements grew around deep water. They can live in aquatic environments while also building lives on land and in sealed habitats.

04Organic lineage

Aeralyn

Aeralyn are a winged organic people shaped by open air, height, and three-dimensional movement. Their bodies are light for their size, but true flight still depends on gravity and atmosphere.

05Organic lineage

Nymari

Nymari are an organic people with unusually sensitive biological systems for reading light, electrical change, and nearby energy. What others need instruments to notice, a Nymari may sometimes feel directly.

06Organic lineage

Iskari

Iskari are a multi-limbed organic people with protective outer body structures and fine control across several working limbs. Their body plan developed along a path very different from Humanity's.

07Organic lineage

Sauren

Sauren are a scaled organic people with strong temperature control and a body plan suited to long exposure outside narrow Human comfort ranges.

08Organic lineage

Pyrakar

Pyrakar are an organic people adapted to extreme heat. Their bodies shed and manage heat efficiently, allowing communities to live near volcanic, industrial, and high-radiation environments that demand heavy protection from many visitors.

09Organic lineage

Sylvani

Sylvani are an organic people whose bodies live in close partnership with plant-like and microbial life. Some of that living partnership is carried on and within the body itself.

10Organic lineage

Nerevok

Nerevok are an organic people adapted to darkness, enclosed environments, and weak natural light. They rely heavily on sound, vibration, and low-light senses when sight alone is unreliable.

11Organic lineage

Mycelari

Mycelari are a fungal-derived organic people whose bodies depend on dense networks of living fibers and symbiotic microbes. Each Mycelari is still an individual person with a separate identity.

Synthetic lineages · 2

Valekari and Echo-Minds live in engineered bodies. They are people with their own histories, not equipment, software owned by a government, or another name for a faction.

12Truly synthetic lineage

Valekari

Valekari are synthetic people who live through engineered chassis. They descend from the Custodians of the Ninth Vault, but they are no longer defined by that ancient job.

13Truly synthetic lineage

Echo-Minds

Echo-Minds are the second synthetic intelligent lineage. They emerged independently of the Valekari and of any one government, and they became a recognized people before they became politically united.

Organic lineage

Human

Humans remain organic and mortal, but human populations can look very different after generations on different worlds. Environment, medicine, genetic work, cybernetics, sacred change, and long isolation all leave marks.

Synthetic lineage

Valekari

Valekari are synthetic people who live through engineered chassis and descend from the Custodians of the Ninth Vault. They outgrew that ancient job long ago and now carry their own communities, choices, and history.

Synthetic lineage

Echo-Minds

Echo-Minds are synthetic people whose engineered bodies can vary widely. Their rise forced older governments to answer a blunt question: does a person need an organic body to have rights and citizenship?

Travel · Crossing the Vastus

Distance has rules.

The same great travel network has several names. Common people say Lightlines. Merchants say Star-Rails. Imperial records say Auric Rail. Priests say Railways of the First Flare. Ancient texts call the old luminous paths Luminarch Veins.

Main network

Auric Rail

The main interstellar travel network. Ships follow controlled routes of light, gravity anchors, braking fields, stabilized gates, and old path connections.

Cosmic foundation

Luminarch Thread

Prime Element XII connects far places beneath ordinary space. The Rail can use these ancient connections, but the Luminarch Thread is a cosmic force, not the transport network itself.

Natural force

Gravitic Wind

Moving patterns of gravity that can help or hinder a ship. They change routes, travel time, storms, warfare, and the value of territory.

Dangerous shortcut

Veil passage

Hidden travel through unstable routes where time, direction, and normal instruments may not behave as expected.

Powers of the Vastus · Seven principal factions

Every faction puts a different weight on survival.

Seven principal factions have enough military, political, industrial, religious, or strategic power to shape the modern Vastus.

01Preservation · civilian rule · equal citizenship

Everflow Dominion

Constitutional Commonwealth

A Human-founded and Human-dedicated constitutional Commonwealth. People from many lineages live there as equal citizens. The Dominion values preservation, Auric tradition, civilian rule, and public duty.

Heraldry · Antique gold · ivory · blackA flowing open ring gathered around a fixed eight-point star.

Read dossier

Everflow is Human-founded and Human-dedicated, while citizenship is open across lineages. Its constitution limits government power and keeps civilian law above the military.

The Dominion protects archives, medicine, recovery, public institutions, and long-lived Auric traditions because preservation is treated as a duty, not simply a slogan.

High Lord Sanctua Velmor I serves inside this constitutional order. The title carries old dignity, but it does not make Everflow an absolute monarchy.

02Shared rule · public knowledge · strategic silence

Silent Nexus

Distributed civilization

A multiracial civilization built from linked communities instead of one central throne. Organic peoples, synthetic persons, archives, engineers, and local governments share power, and public knowledge is treated as essential infrastructure.

Heraldry · Midnight indigo · charcoal · cold silverA ring of linked dark-blue nodes with no single node occupying the center.

Read dossier

The Silent Nexus spreads authority across communities, councils, archives, engineers, organic citizens, Echo-Minds, and Valekari instead of relying on one permanent command center.

Public knowledge is treated as infrastructure. A library, sensor record, or verified warning can matter to civic survival as much as a road or power grid.

The Nexus Algorithm exists within this system, but it is not the government, the species, or the owner of the Silent Nexus.

03Rifts · hidden realities · forbidden crossings

Veilborn’s Rift

Hidden-passage power

A multiracial power shaped by dangerous rifts, hidden routes, and unstable passages. Its people have learned to live near places where normal maps can fail. Veilborn’s Rift is not the Abyssal Rift; the latter is a cosmic wound and a separate threat.

Heraldry · Deep violet · black · pale goldTwo offset arcs divided by a narrow vertical break.

Read dossier

Veilborn communities live near unstable thresholds where ordinary distance and direction can become unreliable.

Local knowledge, timing, secrecy, and disciplined route control can be more valuable than a perfect-looking map.

Veilborn’s Rift is a political civilization. The Abyssal Rift is a cosmic wound and a Universal Threat. The two must never be treated as the same thing.

04Coalition rule · military strength · political pressure

Xal’Rath Coalition

Coalition power

A major alliance of political and military blocs. Its members do not need to become one uniform state to act together, and their combined fleets and diplomacy give the Coalition great power across the Vastus.

Heraldry · Iron red · black · old goldSeveral sharp blade shapes lock together into one hard-edged coalition mark.

Read dossier

The Coalition is made from political and military blocs that keep their own identities while acting together on major threats and shared interests.

Its strength comes from combined fleets, mustering worlds, diplomacy, and the ability to gather separate powers behind one campaign.

Because it is a coalition, disagreement inside the faction can matter as much as pressure from an outside enemy.

05Industry · machine power · logistics

Nau’Kel Combine

Major industrial power

A major industrial civilization built around foundries, production, transport, repair, and organized force. The Combine can keep ships, armies, and whole regions supplied when other powers begin to run short.

Heraldry · Oxidized copper · soot black · white-hot amberA forge-ring locked around three heavy structural arms.

Read dossier

The Combine measures power in what can still be built, repaired, supplied, and moved after a war begins.

Foundries, shipyards, transport systems, stockpiles, and machine-heavy industry give Nau’Kel influence far beyond a single battlefield.

Its military strength depends on production and logistics as much as weapons. A fleet without fuel, parts, crews, and repair capacity is a temporary force.

06Influence · territory · dependence

Vorilan Hegemony

Major influence power

A major power that grows its reach through direct rule, military protection, trade, standards, and political dependence. Vorilan influence often extends farther than the borders it directly controls.

Heraldry · Midnight blue · iron · antique silverA dark central sphere held beneath descending arcs and severe horizon bars.

Read dossier

Vorilan power can take several forms: direct rule, military protection, trade dependence, political standards, vassalage, or long-term obligation.

A world can fall inside the Hegemony's influence without being governed in exactly the same way as a core Vorilan world.

Its leaders prefer relationships that make leaving Vorilan protection costly, difficult, or dangerous.

07Protection · oaths · routes · fortresses

Ikarion Guard

Guardian civilization

A Human-founded and Human-dedicated guardian civilization with members from many lineages. The Guard protects routes, convoys, refugees, relays, archives, and fortified corridors. Its first duty is protection, not conquest.

Heraldry · Deep navy · iron · old goldAn open shield-gate carrying a protected golden route through its center.

Read dossier

The Ikarion Guard is Human-founded and Human-dedicated, while members from many lineages serve beneath the same sworn order.

The Guard protects routes, convoys, refugees, fortresses, relays, archives, and evacuation corridors. Engineering, medicine, logistics, and rescue are core duties beside combat.

Its institutions include the High Marshal’s Council, the Corps of Fortress Engineers, and the Order of Relay Wardens.

Minor factions

Political formations that stand beyond the seven principal powers yet still shape routes, borders, wars, and local loyalties.

Wandering powers

Forces whose power moves with fleets, migrations, raiding hosts, or networks rather than fixed borders.

Universal threats

Four very different dangers carry the Universal Threat designation because each can imperil civilization on a setting-wide scale.

Legendary systems & institutions

Names that keep appearing in records of hidden systems, secret trade, prophecy, and influence.

A civilization may begin with one people and become the home of many. Where someone comes from and which faction they choose are connected parts of history, but they are not the same thing.

Notable characters · Lives inside the history

Wars become history through the people who choose what happens next.

Rulers, commanders, divine persons, and Aeonic powers give the Vastus names a reader can follow. The figures below stand at the center of political, religious, and cosmic forces already shaping the setting.

01Everflow Dominion · Celestium Prime

High Lord Sanctua Velmor I

High Lord of the Everflow Dominion

Sanctua Velmor I is High Lord of the Everflow Dominion. The office carries great authority and old tradition, but it exists inside the Dominion's constitutional system.

02Radiant Bastion · Seraphic Crusaders

Seraph-Lord Veythiel

Supreme commander of the Seraphic Crusaders

Seraph-Lord Veythiel commands the Seraphic Crusaders from the mobile fortress Radiant Bastion. The Crusaders draw followers from all eleven organic lineages and wage war through a twisted belief in worthiness.

Hostile entities · Universal threats

Some enemies take territory. Others change the meaning of survival.

“Universal Threat” is a danger rating. It can describe a cosmic wound, an army, a religious horror, or something that still cannot be clearly classified. It does not mean all Universal Threats are the same kind of thing.

01Cosmological wound

Abyssal Rift

The Abyssal Rift is a wound in reality. Conditions near it change as the breach spreads pressure into the surrounding cosmos. It can endanger whole regions and is not the same thing as Veilborn’s Rift.

02Universal threat

DreadBorn

DreadBorn is a name attached to a major threat that witnesses still cannot describe in one agreed way. People agree that the danger is real long before they agree on exactly what carries the name.

03Religious horror

Choir of Unlight

The Choir of Unlight is a civilization-level threat tied to collective song, anti-radiant belief, and religious horror. Its united voice is better documented than the exact nature of whatever produces it.

Great Beasts · Living cosmic scale

A visible body may be only the smallest part of the Beast.

Enter the Great Beast Codex →

Great Beasts are rare cosmic beings whose visible bodies can dwarf worlds or stars. The part seen in normal space may be only a fraction of the whole. Other parts can extend through the Auric Flow, Nyxian Torrent, Veil, Luminarch paths, or deeper layers of reality.

Recognized orders · 9

Scale tells you how vast. Order tells you what kind.

The Codex now separates Great Beast scale from Great Beast nature, giving every recognized order its own entry.

Encountering a Great Beast

Relation, not ownership.

Civilizations may protect, study, wound, redirect, bargain with, or bind a Great Beast by covenant. None of those relationships make the creature ordinary.

Covenant

A promise, ritual duty, or pact between a civilization and a Beast. Some covenants outlive the people who first made them.

Migration

A Beast's movement can change routes, skies, faiths, trade, war plans, and the fate of whole star systems.

Study & protection

Some people observe, heal, shelter, or defend a Beast without claiming to own it.

Wound, bargain, redirect

Civilizations may use force, negotiation, sacrifice, or changed routes to survive an encounter. Every method can create consequences as large as the Beast itself.

Warfront · Vastus Wars: First Flare

The war begins with a broken road.

The story bears the name of the universe's creation event, but its war unfolds in the ages that follow. One damaged relay grows into the responsibility of deciding what a civilization-spanning network should become.

  1. Prologue

    The Broken Lightline

At Duskward Relay, one expedition ship reaches an Auric route that is already failing. A damaged road becomes the first crisis of a much larger war.

  2. Act I

    The Dying Relay

The relay must be repaired, claimed, studied, cut loose, or abandoned. Every choice saves something and puts something else at risk.

  3. Act II

    Oaths of Seven Powers

No faction can solve the crisis alone. Alliances become necessary, but no one power can be trusted with complete control of the future.

  4. Act III

    War of the Lightlines

Auric Rail failures spread. Routes, junctions, supply chains, and whole star systems become battlefields because movement itself is now at stake.

  5. Act IV

    Sleeping Vastness

Great Beasts and older forces awaken or move into the conflict. The factions learn that not every power in the Vastus cares about their borders or their war.

  6. Act V

    Burden of Dominion

Winning territory is only the beginning. Whoever holds it must feed people, protect routes, enforce law, carry refugees, and answer for the cost of rule.

  7. Finale

    First Flare

The final struggle turns on the inheritance of the ancient First Flare. The name points back to creation itself; it does not move the First Flare from the beginning of history.
